Student information, announcements + more

We have made the difficult decision to cancel Pre-College this summer due to the continued impact of COVID-19. We greatly enjoyed reviewing all of the applications and portfolios we received, and we were excited at the prospect of meeting you this summer. We will roll over Pre-College acceptance and class placement for rising sophomores and juniors who are able to join us in 2021. We are working on a range of summer plans to keep you and your Pre-College cohort engaged in making art and connecting with CIA and each other; we especially encourage our rising seniors to engage in these online offerings as they become available.

Online Classes Now Available

Monday-Friday, July 20 - July 31

A select number of online courses taking place during the last two weeks of July are now open for registration. Accepted Pre-College students will have priority registration now through June 26. These classes were designed to give you an opportunity to develop your portfolio in the areas of digital art and photography, illustration, drawing and painting. Take a look at the full listing here for course descriptions, times, and more. See the registration form below to sign up.

A sample day during your online class

  • Class will start with a Google Meet session, where your instructor will define daily objectives, including projects and assignments that you’ll be working on.
  • During the Google Meet or through pre-recorded video tutorials, your instructor will lead demonstrations and instruction that utilize and teach the processes, application, techniques, and/or materials that you’ll be using in your project/assignment.
  • You’ll then have studio time to work on your project from home. Your instructor will schedule individual check-ins with you and your classmates during studio time to share guidance and feedback on the progress of your work, and ensure that goals and expectations are being met.
  • Towards the end of class, you may be asked to return to the Google Meet session for class discussions and critiques. Students can upload images of work-in-progress or completed work to myCIA for feedback from your instructor or classmates. This is a great time to share what you’ve been working on, as well as to see what your classmates are creating!

Registration is closed. Please contact our office at 216.421.7460 with questions.
